Culture & the human person

The world around us is changing rapidly. Technology, social media, shifting cultural values and new ways of understanding identity and relationships are shaping how we see ourselves — and one another. Behind many of today's cultural debates lies an even deeper question: what does it mean to be human?

CANA Talks explores contemporary culture through the lens of Christian faith, beginning with the conviction that every person possesses an inherent dignity and value. Rather than simply reacting to cultural change, we want to engage thoughtfully with the questions it raises and consider what helps human beings, relationships and communities truly flourish.

Our speakers engage with issues including:

  • Human dignity and the value of the person
  • Identity and belonging
  • Freedom, responsibility, and conscience
  • Social media and the digital world
  • Artificial intelligence and emerging technology
  • Loneliness, connection, and belonging
  • Media, entertainment, and popular culture
  • Work, ambition, and modern life
  • Truth, disagreement, and public conversation
  • Building a culture in which people can flourish

CANA Talks doesn't seek to retreat from contemporary culture or simply condemn it. We believe Christians are called to engage with the world thoughtfully and confidently — recognising what is good, questioning what diminishes the human person, and bringing the hope and wisdom of the Christian faith into the conversations shaping our time.

CANA Talks is the flagship initiative of the CANA Network
